Childhood Memories Often Include Candy!

posted in Off-line Marketing |

My paternal grandparents have been able to travel all over the world for their fun and recreation. Travel is their ultimate pleasure. They are always planning their next adventure. They usually choose warm weather destinations because of spending their time in the cold, Northern Ohio winters! They always remember their grandchildren when they do go on trips and return with goodies from whichever destination they have chosen to bless with their presence on their annual voyage looking for relaxation. One time, in days gone by, they visited San Juan Puerto Rico. From this glorious capital city of Puerto Rico, they purchased Puerto Rico candies and other Puerto Rico wholesale goods to bring home to their family and neighbors.

My entire family has an (outstanding desire for sweets.|a love of confections.} We love sugary candy, chocolate candy, cookies, pastries, cakes and just about anything else that you could name. One of our favorites was given to us by our grandparents from a fabulous visit they made to Puerto Rico a long time ago. The unique candies were a variety pack of bite size candies that encompassed the tastes of Puerto Rico. There were outstanding, exotic flavors such as cream of coconut, pineapple and sesame among others. The coconut were my personal favorite, and any time I have coconut today, I think of my grandparents and their trip to Puerto Rico.

On that same trip to Puerto Rico, my grandparents also came home with other Puerto Rico items. They purchased a bright red t-shirt with the official flag of Puerto Rico emblazoned on the front. Each of my brothers and I received one and used to wear them when each other were wearing them. I thought it was great to be matched with them, but they were older and thought it was horribly embarrassing to be dressed the same as their little sister! I wore mine all of the time and it gave my grandparents joy and fond memories to see me in a shirt that brought up such fond travel memories.

They also frequented Florida each year and eventually retired there in the central portion of Florida. When they returned to Ohio each spring, they would bring us a metal tin of small orange flavored candies. The top was ornamented with orange blossoms, but I do not recall the name of the candy.I remember it as that as I was giving each of them a long hug from not seeing them in so long, I was asking where my orange blossom candy was!

My grandparents and their love of travel was a wonderful experience for them and also a blessing for me and my family. We derived such pleasure from the trinkets and sweet goodies that they traveled far and wide to purchase. Mostly however, we relished in their happiness and their desire to make us happy with small wonders from around the country and even around the world.
