Custom Designing Business Logos For Construction Companies
posted in Bricks and Mortar Business |The construction sector is growing more and more competitive. More established organizations handle the bigger development jobs while smaller and newer firms must display their quality with various subcontracts before moving on to larger ones.
My design company has just been awarded an assignment to produce a new logo samples for a local construction company. To get things going, the art director and I made a visit to our client’s office for a short interview to gather more information about the company.
Like many other organizations we have interviewed, most companies are aware they need a new look to remain competitive but are not really sure what they want. That is where our services come in handy.
Before starting on the logo design, we commonly inquire about the company history, its turnover, its philosophy, its specialty, its target market and exactly why it wants a new logo samples; just to get a better feel of things.
We found out that they are a relatively young company, 8 years in the business with 4 big subcontract projects and many smaller ones under their belts, each one more impressive than the last. They are now looking to adopt a blue ocean strategy and progress into eco-friendly medium cost suburban development – a niche with a low number of competitors – and therefore taking the opportunity to make a name for themselves as one of the first companies to address this niche.
From the meeting, we can gather that they have the needed resources to carry out medium scale development projects. Their identified niche has made it much easier to distinguish them from other developers.
At our studio, we had our usual brainstorming session and and decided on the conceptual direction. From there we designated 4 designers to produce individual interpretations or construction company logo design to turn those creative ideas to logo designs.
After a couple of days, the creatives were ready for show. Some designs utilized stylized text while others utilized construction related graphics like levelers and trowels to get the point across. Though all four logo samples samples were unique in their own way, they all adhered to two major points.
Professionalism
Developers deal with costly projects. To be considered for such projects, they must always be perceived as a professional and responsible organization with admirable business ethics. Subsequently, the neat and clear designs reflected that adequately.
Eco-Friendliness
This is the niche this firm has set out to penetrate. Needless to say, the designs, either by color or graphics, expresses the company’s commitment to the preservation of the environment.
Finally it is up to our clients to make a decision on the designs. However they can make minor changes but as professional designers, we must make sure the design in the end keeps to the key points stated earlier.
